Five Senses Phone Wallpaper

Venturing out into the world after termination for medical reasons (TFMR), no matter how mundane the reason, can feel fraught with anxiety.

“My world has shattered. I can barely hold it together in my own home. How the hell am I supposed to go to the grocery store?” And even when you have strategies people have told you work, how can you be expected to remember to practice or what to do when you’re already overwhelmed?

Even if you’re by yourself, you don’t have to do this alone. Carry some backup right in your purse or pocket.

Five Senses Exercise

This is one of my all-time favorite strategies for calming an overwhelmed & flooded nervous system. It’s easy, not too “woo,” & does a great job of getting you out of your head & into your body in the present moment. It can take the edge off tough situations, interrupt racing thoughts, & it takes less than a minute. Wherever you are, just notice the world around you going through your five senses.

Pick a design below that you like & add the image as your phone’s wallpaper as an easy reminder to practice throughout the day & as a place to turn when you are really activated and want to use this exercise to calm down!
